Cast Aluminum Downspout Bracket
True North is now the manufacturer of a new cast aluminum downspout bracket. This cast aluminum downspout bracket not only looks great but is very strong. As you can see it has that old world look of cast iron, and looks great on the downspout attached to a wall. Our standard method of strapping downpipes to the wall is still great, as we double strap all our downpipes.
Why a Cast Aluminum Downspout Bracket?
The photos below will show you how we install your downpipe, starting by removing the existing one that was attached with a roofing nail. Not the way to do it!
Below, you can see that they used roofing nails to go into the brick wall. It didn’t take much for this downpipe to come off. Even though the house is only 5 years old, I’m surprised it lasted this long.
In this photo, you can see that we use a full strap with a lead drive to fully secure it to the wall.
Once the downpipe is on, we then attach the strap with a 5/8” screw.
Finally, we then proceed to attach the fancy strap that you see here.
This way, you do not see the fasteners on the strap. Finally, this is done purely for decorative purposes, because the strength is in the strap that is covered.
